"Thank you for your patience, grace, gentleness, and warmth. I love how it is evident that you enjoy your midwifery work and believe that what you do really matters. It does-- so much!"

On behalf of the Connor family, I’d like to introduce you to our newest addition, Shepherd Henry– born on May 29, and already 4 weeks old! I can hardly believe it. We are so pleased to share that after many, many weeks of anticipation, once labor finally began (on its own!!) things progressed quickly and peacefully, and we truly had the birth of our dreams.

Baby Shepherd was born at home, at sunset, surrounded by the loveliest team of people. I felt so supported and blessed, from beginning to end. I am still pinching myself that it all happened the way it did, and that he’s really here! God is so good.

Thank you to each one of you for taking the time to educate us, listen to us, and demonstrate your genuine investment in the quality of our birth and maternity care.

It was clear that God led us to your practice from the very beginning and we trusted that His hand was over it all, no matter the outcome. But I am also so grateful for the trust that was established between the midwives and our family during our time in your care. It made such a difference to have our convictions honored whenever possible and to be treated as valued participants throughout the whole process.

Thank you for your patience, grace, gentleness, and warmth. I love how it is evident that you enjoy your midwifery work and believe that what you do really matters. It does– so much!

Thank you to Jenny for counseling me through some especially tender moments and for taking the time to thoughtfully reevaluate things with me when the waiting got hard but I wasn’t ready to pursue intensive induction methods just yet. (Baby really did come when he was ready!)

Thank you to sweet Meg for her calm, clear coaching during labor and delivery… I have replayed those moments in my mind so many times (bringing me to tears even as I write this). I felt so safe and in such good hands. I was delighted that she was the one to catch our baby!

Thank you to all of you for truly being on our team, rooting for us, supporting us, and sharing in our excitement as we awaited and welcomed our precious baby boy. It honestly makes me a little sad to be nearing the end of our time in your care.

We will forever cherish the incredible gift of your skillful services and mindful approach, which have blessed our family in a deeply meaningful way. This pregnancy, birth, and postpartum season have been a very healing and redemptive experience for us, and the answer to so many prayers.

My doula recently shared this quote from Ina May Gaskin, “Whenever and however you give birth, your experience will impact your emotions, your mind, your body and your spirit for the rest of your life.” I can not say thank you enough for impacting our family’s story in such a positive, indelible way. We are humbled and grateful.

Wishing you all the best as you move into this new season as a Birth Center! I will be following along, cheering you on, and sending expectant Mamas your way any chance I get.

With warmest blessings,

MarthaJoy Connor & family
