About

welcome to new birth

New Birth Midwifery was founded in 2010 from a desire to offer families maternity care that felt safe, personal, and deeply respectful.

In its earliest years, New Birth Midwifery was a small, one-midwife practice. Founder Jenny carried a limited client load while raising her own young family, building the practice thoughtfully around the belief that parents deserve to be heard, informed, and actively involved in their care. Our mission was simple: “Birthing Naturally, Birthing Safely”

That belief continues to guide New Birth today.

Families come to us for many reasons. Some are preparing to welcome their first baby and are drawn to the personal attention and relationship-based care midwifery provides. Others have given birth in a hospital before and are seeking a different experience—one with more time, greater continuity, and a setting where their preferences can remain at the center of their care. Whatever brings a family to New Birth, our goal is the same: to provide skilled, compassionate care while creating space for each family to make informed decisions about their pregnancy, birth, and postpartum experience.

Our History

New Birth entered an important season of growth in 2019 when midwife Sarah joined Jenny as a partner. Sarah contributed meaningfully to the development of the practice during a pivotal chapter in its history. Together, they created systems, welcomed new team members, and helped New Birth respond to a rapidly growing number of families seeking community-based maternity care. We remain grateful for Sarah’s work and the role she played in helping New Birth become the practice it is today.

As New Birth grew, so did its commitment to strengthening the future of midwifery. New Birth is honored to welcome midwifery students into the practice for clinical education. Teaching future midwives has become a meaningful extension of our mission and an important investment in the families and communities they will one day serve.

In 2023, New Birth took another significant step forward by opening its Chaska birth center. After years of operating at capacity, the center created a much-needed gathering place for prenatal and postpartum appointments and gave families another option for community birth in addition to home birth.

New Birth Today

New Birth Midwifery is now supported by a dedicated team of midwives, students, and administrative professionals who share a commitment to excellent care. Although the practice has grown considerably since 2010, our purpose remains deeply personal: families should feel known, respected, and supported throughout one of the most significant experiences of their lives.

Community birth has also evolved. It is no longer sought only by families willing to step outside conventional expectations. Today, many first-time parents and experienced parents alike are thoughtfully choosing midwifery care and out-of-hospital birth because they value personalized care, shared decision-making, and the comfort of giving birth in a welcoming environment.

New Birth Midwifery is the name of our practice, New Birth Wellness Center is our birth center where just in the year of 2025 alone we helped 192 babies be born! We have a deep love for our community and our name reflects that – we want it to be a place where families are seen, heard and loved and where wellness is the goal. The work of many hands has shaped New Birth over the years, and we are grateful for every person who has contributed to its foundation. We carry those contributions forward while continuing to develop a practice that is responsive to the families and communities we serve today.

Looking Ahead

As New Birth moves into its next chapter, we remain committed to growing with intention. We will continue strengthening our team, supporting the education of future midwives, and expanding access to safe, compassionate community birth. We are so excited to be offering new services at our birth center like infusions, group classes including parenting classes, childbirth education classes and more. We have rented a space next to our current birth center that we will renovate to become a community class space in the near future so stay tuned, we will have updates on our social media. Our vision is to provide midwifery care to the ones who need it most – from families in hard places locally in Minnesota to globally in many countries around the world by training midwives and donating 10% of our profits to organizations like Mama Baby Haiti and midwives we know who are working in countries where the maternity care leaves much to be desired. We are so excited for the many wonderful things yet to come. Stay tuned!
