My name is Abigail Lindstrom, and I am a certified professional midwife (CPM) and licensed midwife (LM) in the states of Minnesota and California.
I was introduced to midwifery at an early age—when I was born at home! As the oldest of four children, I was also present for each of my siblings’ home births. My parents co-taught childbirth classes together out of our home, and later our family moved overseas, where my mother has spent the past 12 years working to reform maternal healthcare and train doulas and providers in Central Asia. It’s safe to say I was exposed to midwifery and the importance of women’s healthcare from the very beginning.
In my 20s, I spent several years working internationally with a faith based non-profit. In 2016, while in South Sudan, I met a Kenyan midwife named Caroline who invited me to shadow her for a week. That experience changed my life. I was deeply impacted by her perseverance in providing quality care despite working in a single room clinic, with limited resources, medication embargoes, and the instability of civil war. The day she handed me a pair of gloves and let me catch a baby was the moment I knew I wanted to become a midwife, so I too could help women in dire need of quality care.
After meeting my husband Kyle, getting married in 2018, and continuing to serve overseas for a few more years, we moved back to my hometown of San Diego in 2021 so I could attend Mercy in Action College of Midwifery. As a student I worked in two homebirth practices, and I graduated in 2025 with a Bachelor of Science in Midwifery.
I am passionate about client education and providing high-quality, evidence-based care with grace and compassion. Knowledge is power, and I want to put power and autonomy back into the hands of the women I serve. I’m thrilled to now be living in Savage, Minnesota—my husband’s hometown—and to be pursuing my career with New Birth Midwifery. I believe this practice truly embodies woman-centered, collaborative care, and I’m honored to be part of the team.
Outside of attending births and working in the clinic, you can find me at the rock climbing gym, out on a walk, in a yoga class, playing board games, enjoying a latte at a coffee shop, camping, or cooking Asian inspired food at home with my husband.
