Sophie Belden

Midwife

I am passionate about providing respectful, evidence-based, and holistic care to every family. I believe everyone deserves safe, compassionate maternity care, regardless of their background, identity, or circumstances...

My name is Sophia Belden, and I am a Certified Professional Midwife (CPM) and Licensed Midwife (LM) in Minnesota.

I was born and raised in Minneapolis. My journey to becoming a midwife has taken me all across the world. After exploring training pathways in Canada, Australia, and the United States, I discovered the United Kingdom’s direct-entry midwifery degree and soon found myself moving across the pond, drinking loads of tea and living a real-life Call the Midwife experience. I completed my degree and trained within the NHS in England, where midwives provide primary maternity care to all women throughout the pregnancy continuum.

During my final year, an observational placement at a birth center in spokane sparked my passion for American midwifery care. After graduating, I volunteered in maternity hospitals in Tanzania before returning to Minnesota to become a CPM.

I am passionate about providing respectful, evidence-based, and holistic care to every family. I believe everyone deserves safe, compassionate maternity care, regardless of their background, identity, or circumstances, and I feel honored to walk alongside families during one of the most transformative seasons of their lives.

Outside of midwifery, I love travelling, exploring new cultures, and spending time outdoors. More often than not, you’ll find me jetting off on a plane somewhere, but when I’m staying closer to home, I enjoy roller skating, ice skating, baking, and spending time with my family and friends.
